You can try cleaning your saves (making sure you wiped the offline website data completely clean) and start over or try another browser for the browser version. Make sure you keep your save files to a maximum of 3-4 slots. More than that freezes the game.
For the download version, if you set your text to instant, it will freeze due to live2d sprites. Try pressing ctrl for skipping instead of fast mouse clicks. 🙂 let me know if any of those work for you!
I tried all you said I should do, but I still got stuck at the same place... Don't worry though! I guess the choices I made in-game broke the programming maybe? Instead, I just started fresh from a new chapter and everything was smooth sailing from there.

this game was fantastic! i remember back when the first ascension game came out and it was the first visual novel i ever loved. this one clearly shows all of your talents! the writing was absolutely phenomenal. i loved the characters, i loved the plot progression, it all was so good! the art was absolutely stunning. thank you so much for making this <3
I liked this game but I have a question for the developer: Is there any chance there will be a (purchaseable, it does not have to be for free, it does not even have to be cheap) NSFW version of this game in form of downloadable Windows executable and not just remote, web-browser-based, subscription only version?
There is already a downloadable windows exe which doesn't require an active Patreon subscription to play on Patreon. You can simply make a one time donation and download your file along with many other patreon benefits and cancel your subscription the next month if you really want to.
The reason why I don't sell the nsfw version standalone is;
1- Because Patrons actually fund these games. Without my patrons, I wouldn't be able to make them at all, so while I do understand people wanting to buy the nsfw version on somewhere like itch.io, right now it's part of my thanks to people who actually make these games come true. They are also generous enough to let me distribute the full sfw versions of these games for free.
2- The nsfw scenes are barely %5 of the entire game. I don't like the dlc system, and I don't think it's fair to ask money for such a small part of an otherwise completely free game. The reason why they are a patreon benefit is that it comes with many more extra benefits as a pretty big package. Like a basket of gifts instead of one.
3- Even if I wanted to, I could not sell anything on itch.io, because the payment platforms they insist on using are not allowed in countless countries like mine. You can blame itch.io's lack of an international payment system for this. Neither Steam nor Patreon has this problem, so this is something I feel they need to work on.

As I mentioned before, the earnings I receive monthly from Patreon go directly into the production of the games (The artists, musicians etc). Since these are episodic games, a subscription system works very well with this format. I can continue to release new episodes thanks to all the subscriptions, and people can keep playing them. You, of course, are free to not like it personally, but this is what I feel most comfortable doing as a developer who wants to keep making free to play games for everybody to have some sort of access despite their financial situation.🙂
Going "poof" over time is unfortunately a serious problem of today's digital content. Platforms like Steam are included in this digital "renting" system. So, not every downloadable content is archiveable either. This is especially serious in the mobile app industry. Which is exactly why I like Patreon, because it gives developers more power over their own content. How you distribute, how you contact with the people who support you is completely up to you. Feels like I'm advertising Patreon, but as a creator, I'm really really happy with their platform and I think most people misunderstand how it actually works. I'm just interested in your game, but I'll never support censorship, that's why I won't play this free version and that's one of the reasons I won't ever give any money to patreon (the other being that I believe that installements are an encouragement to work slowly, I prefer to give more but in one time, like for early access games)

You and I have very different definitions of censorship. This game is not a porn game where I'm censoring what is initially it's purpose. It's a plot heavy story game. The free version is the full version, and the Patreon version is simply a gift among many other gifts to the people who support this game on a monthly basis, which is what I need to fund a new chapter each month. I work with a large team, and this is all of our main job.
I am not seeking any rewards for my work, as I mentioned before the full version is free. The game is simply being funded by regular support of the people who enjoy the work and want it to continue, and the rewards including the optional nsfw scenes are MY gifts to these people as my thanks.
This is the way I get to release an actual interactive story game for free for the people who are into story games not porn games, and I also get to make my patrons (the people who are actually interested in my games) happy.

Love the game so much; unfortunately, probably because I didn't see the warning about not using too many save spaces and all that jazz, my game keeps freezing in the middle of the Finale part 2 and nothing I've done seems to fix it; I've tried deleting my history, including the offline data, and trying to use Chrome as opposed to Firefox but it's either getting stuck in the same place, won't let me open a New Game (keeps freezing when I select "pick a chapter"), or just won't open at all
Just did a bit of testing and different question options made the game freeze in different places; "Who?" froze on the response to the question; "What?" (my original answer) freezes part way through the conversation; and "Where?" freezes on the question itself
You need to make sure you cleaned your offline website data and make sure the save files are completely wiped out first. Then start a new game and choose the last chapter to play. Also make sure you are not using the instant message speed, as it seems to be clashing with Live2D characters and cause freezing. Alternatively you could try the download file. 💖 Let me know if any of these works for you!
Great game, totally love it! But... but... please tell me that these are very small kingdoms and there are very fast means to travel between them. Well, question was about MC's pregnancy. To be pregnant and to have not even suspicion - that should be a pretty early term. And after seeing so many beautiful romantic scenes with Alwenn - I really hope that happened before their relationship bloomed (yeah I know I'm hell of oldfasioned :D ). Hence the question about the world size. Heroes must travel very fast to MC still have no idea about her pregnancy at Final chapter. But probably warlocks have it different for all I know :D
And the second question - how Elius know about MC's pregnancy?
Thank you so much for explaining! 1- She wouldn't have suspected because Warlocks are, due to their corrupt surge, infertile. Not to mention she wasn't overly concerned about her missing period while the world was in danger of being destroyed by Thar'akith.
2- The whole trip from Walinad to Sindan, and to Gael to Khell took about 4 months at most. If Thyia had a male LI, that would make her 2 mo pregnant, if she had a female LI, she is about 4 mo. Some body types don't start showing until the end of the 4 mo, so we are in the clear (barely :) But I couldn't have changed the sprites due to spoilers.).
3- Elius knew because of the same reason how Thar'akith knew. How Thyia knew. Elius is a loyal follower of Xiris, and although her messages are not always clear and comes as nightmares and dreams, this one was very clear.

I was playing the online version when i unententionally refreshed the game without saving and i thought "well imma download the game !" and i'm under Mac, downloaded the two versions and i still can't run it... Does someone has the same problem ? Do i have to install something else in order to run the game ?
This game is insane ! I cannot believe we can play it for free ! Every character are so complex and well written, every love interest brings a new facet of the MC to light. The plot is closer to a fantasy novel than a visual novel beacause it treats of politic, sacrifies, and even racial prejudices; and this is what I love the most.

Hi I was up to Part 1: Finale exactly at the decision on whether to 'hire' the students, when I tried to load only the for the game to freeze on the loading screen. I have tried multiple to times to load, even closing the entire browser (Google Chrome). I really love this game and have been a fan of your games since the original Ascension series, I would really like to avoid having to start this game again from the start :(( any suggestions? Clean your browser history and make sure you deleted all of your offline website data. Starting a new game gives you the option to start from any chapter you like. Don't worry about starting over. Alternatively you could try using the download version or using firefox instead. Firefox is the preferred browser for this game. Make sure you use only 4-5 save slots at a time. More than that will cause freezing. :)

I really love your games and this game is so good, but I haven't been able to get past the part in chapter 4 after my character has burned the ship and Virion is talking with the king and his advisers. It always freezes when he is talking to Argandea, always at the same spot. I originally started this game on your website and I couldn't get past that part, and then I found it here so I went through the game again and it stopped at the same place, and it always stops there, no matter from what saved slot I go from. I play on chrome and I've also tried on firefox but the same thing happened there too.
This game is so good and I'd be really sad if I couldn't finish it, do you have any ideas as to what's wrong?
I cleared all my browser history and data, but I think I'll give the download a shot, since clearing the data lost my online progress anyway. Saw this the other day and that "Oathbreaker" was by the same creators of Ascension; played the whole game twice in one sitting. Loved every minute of it; family members can attest to me being a giggling, raving mess! Think I may have a penchant for elves, especially dark, dangerous, flirty ones >_< Keep up the good work! Can not wait for the season 2 and know it will be just as or even more so amazing than this season. <3
Finished season 1... Also want to die because that cliffhanger is so brutal.
Although I'm not overly fond of the art style, nothing could detract from the frankly MASTERFUL storytelling done in this visual novel. It is *chef's kiss* magnifique, truly.
But especially Virion's route. And I picked all the dialog that I knew would hurt me the most, ugh, why? Season 2 is definitely on my list (the good one).
*Edit: the thought just occurred to me as I was browsing tiers of your patreon because I'd love to have the full nsfw version of the game-- would you ever consider releasing a paid version on itch.io of the nsfw game? I desperately want to give you my money, but can't currently justify the monthly patreon payments in my tight budget when my eye is solely captured by that one addition to the game.

I played your Ascension games way back in the the day, even repeated them multiple times to get every little dialogue option. I just played the game for the first time and I have to say it's amazing. While I wasn't too fond of the 3D style CGs at first I grew quite fond of them, I'm glad I gave it a try. The story and the characters are intriguing, the mini games are a pleasant addition.
My only issue is replayabilitiy, in a way - I always play one game multiple times to see all "routes" , and it may be just my limited knowledge but I can't seem to find a way to make it so the engine skips only previously read text? I've toggled the option on and off in the settings multiple times, tried skipping using ctrl as well as simply pressing the skip button, and it seems to always skip all text regardless. It makes it rather difficult to go through the game with different romances and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong ^^'' I'm so used to how RenPy works that I'm quite lost to different engines

I love this so much and I'm distraught, I've played this game on both desktop and download; everytime it always stops at "Finale - Part 1" right after the "round rat short fella" says "But, first you must pay your rent". I desperately hope there's a solution as this is my favourite piece of art.

For the download version, some scenes may load slower than usual so you may need to wait a little bit more. (Also make sure your text speed isn't set to instant.) If all else fails, try skipping past that part holding ctrl in the download version. =) Hope this helps!

You and I have very different definitions of censorship. This game is not a porn game where I'm censoring what is initially it's purpose. It's a plot heavy story game.
The free version is the full version, and the Patreon version is simply a gift among many other gifts to the people who support this game on a monthly basis, which is what I need to fund a new chapter each month. I work with a large team, and this is all of our main job.
I am not seeking any rewards for my work, as I mentioned before the full version is free. The game is simply being funded by regular support of the people who enjoy the work and want it to continue, and the rewards including the optional nsfw scenes are MY gifts to these people as my thanks.
This is the way I get to release an actual interactive story game for free for the people who are into story games not porn games, and I also get to make my patrons (the people who are actually interested in my games) happy.
What you believe that should and should not happen is irrelevant, as you are clearly not my audience. Your rightous quest for fighting against censorship on an indie game distribution website, against indie game developers who do the very best they can to fund the games on their own in an industry full of cold-hard economic decisions that are both shitty for developers and players alike is funny to me, but go off, I guess.
Again, rating an indie full game with a 0 star because you couldn't get your fix of digital dicks and tits is ridiculous.
You have a right to not like the way I distribute my game in a way that makes MY audience happy, and I have a right to find your pettiness funny.

Love the game so much; unfortunately, probably because I didn't see the warning about not using too many save spaces and all that jazz, my game keeps freezing in the middle of the Finale part 2 and nothing I've done seems to fix it; I've tried deleting my history, including the offline data, and trying to use Chrome as opposed to Firefox but it's either getting stuck in the same place, won't let me open a New Game (keeps freezing when I select "pick a chapter"), or just won't open at all
Just did a bit of testing and different question options made the game freeze in different places; "Who?" froze on the response to the question; "What?" (my original answer) freezes part way through the conversation; and "Where?" freezes on the question itself
You need to make sure you cleaned your offline website data and make sure the save files are completely wiped out first. Then start a new game and choose the last chapter to play. Also make sure you are not using the instant message speed, as it seems to be clashing with Live2D characters and cause freezing. Alternatively you could try the download file. 💖 Let me know if any of these works for you!
Great game, totally love it! But... but... please tell me that these are very small kingdoms and there are very fast means to travel between them. I mean - I (as MC, not real me :)) just tell Alwenn that I love her and there is no other and after that - you know, it's really; REALLY hard not to notice that you're cosplaying an old typewriter :D

Well, question was about MC's pregnancy. To be pregnant and to have not even suspicion - that should be a pretty early term. And after seeing so many beautiful romantic scenes with Alwenn - I really hope that happened before their relationship bloomed (yeah I know I'm hell of oldfasioned :D ). Hence the question about the world size. Heroes must travel very fast to MC still have no idea about her pregnancy at Final chapter. But probably warlocks have it different for all I know :D
And the second question - how Elius know about MC's pregnancy?

1- She wouldn't have suspected because Warlocks are, due to their corrupt surge, infertile. Not to mention she wasn't overly concerned about her missing period while the world was in danger of being destroyed by Thar'akith.
2- The whole trip from Walinad to Sindan, and to Gael to Khell took about 4 months at most. If Thyia had a male LI, that would make her 2 mo pregnant, if she had a female LI, she is about 4 mo. Some body types don't start showing until the end of the 4 mo, so we are in the clear (barely :) But I couldn't have changed the sprites due to spoilers.).
3- Elius knew because of the same reason how Thar'akith knew. How Thyia knew. Elius is a loyal follower of Xiris, and although her messages are not always clear and comes as nightmares and dreams, this one was very clear.

This game is insane ! I cannot believe we can play it for free ! Every character are so complex and well written, every love interest brings a new facet of the MC to light. The plot is closer to a fantasy novel than a visual novel beacause it treats of politic, sacrifies, and even racial prejudices; and this is what I love the most.

Hi I was up to Part 1: Finale exactly at the decision on whether to 'hire' the students, when I tried to load only the for the game to freeze on the loading screen. I have tried multiple to times to load, even closing the entire browser (Google Chrome). I really love this game and have been a fan of your games since the original Ascension series, I would really like to avoid having to start this game again from the start :(( any suggestions? Clean your browser history and make sure you deleted all of your offline website data. Starting a new game gives you the option to start from any chapter you like. Don't worry about starting over. Alternatively you could try using the download version or using firefox instead. Firefox is the preferred browser for this game. Make sure you use only 4-5 save slots at a time. More than that will cause freezing. :)

I really love your games and this game is so good, but I haven't been able to get past the part in chapter 4 after my character has burned the ship and Virion is talking with the king and his advisers. It always freezes when he is talking to Argandea, always at the same spot. I originally started this game on your website and I couldn't get past that part, and then I found it here so I went through the game again and it stopped at the same place, and it always stops there, no matter from what saved slot I go from. I play on chrome and I've also tried on firefox but the same thing happened there too.
This game is so good and I'd be really sad if I couldn't finish it, do you have any ideas as to what's wrong?

I cleared all my browser history and data, but I think I'll give the download a shot, since clearing the data lost my online progress anyway. I know I can start from a certain chapter, and I may just be being too particular, but I like to play the game all the way through xD, so I'll see how the download goes.

Unfortunately, I can't finish the game.
After playing the scene where King Raelan is taking with his Uncle in the dungeon in the Finale - Part One, the page reloads and restarts the whole game. （ ｉДｉ ）
I am using Safari, and I am using Mobile. I've read a past comment, where you informed the person to clear browser history and offline site history and keep close to the wireless source, but it doesn't work for me. ( -д-；)
Either way, I am really happy that I got to experience this game and I am eagerly waiting for the next season. (ノ^о^)ノ

Saw this the other day and that "Oathbreaker" was by the same creators of Ascension; played the whole game twice in one sitting. Finished season 1... Also want to die because that cliffhanger is so brutal.
Although I'm not overly fond of the art style, nothing could detract from the frankly MASTERFUL storytelling done in this visual novel. It is *chef's kiss* magnifique, truly.
But especially Virion's route. And I picked all the dialog that I knew would hurt me the most, ugh, why? Season 2 is definitely on my list (the good one).
*Edit: the thought just occurred to me as I was browsing tiers of your patreon because I'd love to have the full nsfw version of the game-- would you ever consider releasing a paid version on itch.io of the nsfw game? I played your Ascension games way back in the the day, even repeated them multiple times to get every little dialogue option. I stopped following your work a year or so after, yet yesterday, I was looking at a blank google page wondering what I should do, and the name "rinmaru" popped in my head. I just played the game for the first time and I have to say it's amazing. While I wasn't too fond of the 3D style CGs at first I grew quite fond of them, I'm glad I gave it a try. The story and the characters are intriguing, the mini games are a pleasant addition.
My only issue is replayabilitiy, in a way - I always play one game multiple times to see all "routes" , and it may be just my limited knowledge but I can't seem to find a way to make it so the engine skips only previously read text? I've toggled the option on and off in the settings multiple times, tried skipping using ctrl as well as simply pressing the skip button, and it seems to always skip all text regardless. It makes it rather difficult to go through the game with different romances and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong ^^'' I'm so used to how RenPy works that I'm quite lost to different engines

I love this so much and I'm distraught, I've played this game on both desktop and download; everytime it always stops at "Finale - Part 1" right after the "round rat short fella" says "But, first you must pay your rent". I desperately hope there's a solution as this is my favourite piece of art.

For the browser version, try cleaning your browser history and offline website data (make sure your save files are completely wiped) and start from the last chapter. Keep your save files to a maximum of 3-4, and make sure you are close to your wireless source.
For the download version, some scenes may load slower than usual so you may need to wait a little bit more. (Also make sure your text speed isn't set to instant.) If all else fails, try skipping past that part holding ctrl in the download version. =) Hope this helps!
